GMS BIOLAB 360: An Open and Modular Platform for Laboratory Automation

14 September 2026 by
Michele Fameni

Laboratory workflows are becoming increasingly complex, while automation solutions are often designed around fixed configurations.

GMS BIOLAB 360 offers a different approach: an open, modular and reconfigurable platform designed to adapt to the changing needs of laboratories.

The platform combines several automation functions within a single architecture, including pipetting, sample handling, centrifugation, shaking, aspiration, pumping and temperature control.

One Platform, Multiple Possibilities

BIOLAB 360 can be configured according to the application and workflow. Modules can be added, replaced or reorganized as requirements evolve.

The ecosystem includes:

  • ePipetting – precise automated pipetting
  • eGripper – automated handling of plates and consumables
  • eCentrifuge – automated centrifugation
  • eShake – controlled shaking
  • eVac – automated liquid aspiration
  • eWater Bath – integrated temperature control
  • ePump – automated pumping and dispensing

Each module can also be used independently as an OEM module, for integration into an existing machine or a dedicated automation solution.

From Automated Operations to Complete Workflows

With GEMS at the core of the system, BIOLAB 360 coordinates multiple modules to automate complete protocols, from sample preparation to more complex analytical workflows.

The platform can be used for applications such as ELISA, LC-MS/MS sample preparation, 96-well plate handling, liquid transfer, biological sample preparation and cell biology workflows.
