Fire, Materials and Thermal Protection

Measure the Thermal Load Actually Received by a Material

Context

To qualify a thermal protection system, measuring only the temperature reached by the material is not sufficient.

Heat flux measurement directly determines the thermal energy to which the sample is exposed.

NexTherm Sensing has technologies dedicated to fire research, including CHF sensors developed for heat fluxes ranging from a few tens of kW/m² to more than 1 MW/m², as well as washer-type thermocouples designed for fire resistance testing applications.

Applications

  • Battery thermal protection
  • Thermal barriers
  • Composite materials
  • Insulation
  • Panels
  • Protective equipment
  • Fire behavior
  • Thermal propagation and material qualification

GEMESIS Integration

GEMESIS can design the complete test bench, including the thermal source, sample holder, instrumentation, data acquisition and automated test sequences.
